The Whanau Shiraz 2017
Single Vineyard | Estate Grown | Longwood East, Victoria
Garners 2017 Shiraz is a single vineyard, estate-grown wine produced in Longwood East, Victoria. It represents the second-last vintage of Garners Heritage Wines.
Leon Garner, a newcomer to the wine industry, retired from his academic career as a Professor of Optometry after 27 years in New Zealand. He devoted his final 11 years to planting and growing top-class Shiraz before passing away in August 2016 after a long battle with cancer.
His wife Rosie continued producing their wine with the wonderful support of family and friends.
Whanau is a Kiwi term describing extended family, friends and community. This wine is a tribute to them and the important part they played in the Garners story.
